Bleeding Cherry Angiomas Removal

MessageAuthor

Has anyone dealt with cherry angiomas that occasionally bleed? I have one on my back that I must have scratched or caught on something and it bled quite a bit for such a small thing. My doctor said it's nothing to worry about but recommended considering removal to prevent it from happening again. Wondering if this is a common issue and if removal is the best solution for angiomas in areas prone to irritation.

RE: Bleeding Cherry Angiomas Removal

Yeah, bleeding is actually one of the more common reasons people decide to get them removed beyond just cosmetic concerns. Because cherry angiomas are clusters of blood vessels, they can bleed quite a lot if they get traumatized or accidentally nicked. It's not dangerous, but it can be annoying and sometimes alarming because of the amount of bleeding relative to the size of the lesion. If you have one in a location where it's frequently getting irritated by clothing or where you might accidentally scratch it, removal is definitely a practical solution. Once it's gone, you don't have to worry about accidentally catching it anymore.

RE: Bleeding Cherry Angiomas Removal

I had this exact situation with one on my shoulder blade that would occasionally get irritated by my bra strap or when I was toweling off after a shower. It bled a few times and was just becoming a nuisance. Getting it removed was definitely the right call for me - no more worrying about accidentally catching it or dealing with unexpected bleeding. The removal process for that one was the same as for my other angiomas that weren't causing any issues. If you have any in high-friction areas or places where they're vulnerable to trauma, I'd definitely consider taking care of them. This resource covers both cosmetic and practical reasons for removal: https://bellasanamedspa.com/blog/angioma-removal-safe-and-effective-removal - it might help you think through whether removal makes sense for your situation. Peace of mind is worth something too.
