3rd Party Converters

Hi All, I'm thinking of getting a Rosetta 200 for use with my 003 factory. Now, I assume the digi and rosetta conveters will not have the the same latency. So what happens if I record 4 sources at once, 2 through the rosetta and 2 through the 003? Are there any issues with that? Will I have to nudge tracks? Thanks, Dan

yes they will have different latency. i would not track say 2 mics on one gtr cabinet w different converters, that is begging for trouble, or split drum oh mics or something but most situations you will be fine. lots of us do it all the time.

Great, thanks for the info. How do you deal with bleed? If I'm tracking in one big room, there'll be a certain amount of bleed, so I'll have a certain amount of one source going through both converters, yes? Am I being overly concerned? :-) Dan

Whether you are being overly concerned or not sort of depends on how you like to work. If its a big concern, you might have guitar players play scratch tracks with a POD type amp sim(and replace those tracks with their mic'd amp setups after the basic tracks are done). Bass if often recorded direct. Building ISO closets for guitar cabs can work wonders(when I had my studio at my house, I ran cables to the basement and had a guitar cab down there). Or do what they did for decades and get things to sound good WITH the bleed, and make commited decisions about the sound BEFORE you record(I know, that sounds nuts these days).
