I just finished building my Dual Xeon 2.8ghz 533mhz fsb water cooled monster CCE encoder and was dying to see what cce speed I'd get. Well, here's the result: I don't currently have enough HD space on the machine to do a whole DVD, and this was just a quick run of 600 megs or so (3 pass). I was expecting 2.x or possibly 3.x I'm completly blown away by this and can't wait to get my bigger hard drive running so I can do a whole DVD. Also, this was reading the VOB across a 100 meg network connection (because I don't have enough disk on the machine yet. I sure hope these speeds stay where they are, if they do, I'll be very happy.

Nice machine, but you might want to check your mpv file, an encode bitrate of 0.2Mbps suggests there's a problem with the vob -> vfapi -> cce chain, it looks like you might be encoding blank frames. Plus 2210KB file size for 20914 frames is a little small. Regards Mad.
For blank frames, you could even save some time by encoding only one still frame for the same result Check your process and be sure this speed corresponds to a real encoding. CBR of 0.2 MBits/s ....hope you have a big HDTV screen to appreciate the result :D (no offense intended) Waldok:cool:

Well, here's some new results. CCE 2.66 using AVISynth 720x480 NTSC. Settled in around 3.75 or so. Still waiting to look at finished results, but at least the mbps looked normal. Dual Xeon 2.8ghz with HT turned on. Roveer

Still pretty damn fast. I'm assuming your doing full D1 resolution also, which makes it more impressive. Have you tried encoding with HT disabled to see the speed difference? That would be really interesting to see.

If you're working with mpeg2dec3.dll in your script, maybe you're using the wrong version of mepg2dec3.dll As far as i know, you need Version 1.0 of mpeg2dec3.dll for Avisynth 2.5 I had the same error, when i tried using Avisynth 2.07 with mpeg2dec3.dll, because i needed Beta6 of mpeg2dec for AVS 2.07 Greetz 69Mws

Hmm, thought I would comment on this. Encoding a single 700Mb .avi without any resizing at CBR, I get rates of 4.75 on a P4B 2.26GHz (OC to 2.82GHz). Expanding my encoding to VBR and adding resizing to the clip, my speed drops to around 1.80. At stock CPU speed, that number was around 1.4. Yes, I know OCing is bad for video editing, but I have yet to see any troubles arising from it. ;)

Rover your machine kicks ass, just for "fun" could you encode a 700mb Divx to MPEG2 using CBR as Pratticus did ? Trying not to go through your LAN. Thx. uteotw
