is there supposed to be an oil cooler on your car? if not, then as per previous post, either your cooling system needs a flush, temp sensor and stat. doing all these three things are simple to do yourself and not costly. maybe worth doing rather than continually overheating your engine. if you get stuck in a traffic jam on a hotter day, it will boil up!!!

if you have put a t5 engine into a car without an oil cooler, you will have to have a oil cooler. the t5 engine is designed to have an oil cooler, which is built into the radiator. you will have to change your radiator to suit your engine. if its also an auto, you will need an oil cooler for the box too. if you run a t5 engine without an oil cooler, it will not last 5 mins and cease. hoses for oil to travel to and from an oil cooler are fitted to a t5 engine. good quality radiators can be bought from
well an oil cooler might delay the fan kicking in, but it won't cause the fan to kick in at a different temperature, thats all down to the fan controller, nothing to do with the oil cooler.
if it hasnt got an oil cooler, then it best have one. but cos you havent ogt one shouldnt affect what temp the fan kicks in. if i remember rightly, my fan on my t5 doesnt kick in unless it goes 3/4 on the temp gauge. so your engine will be running hotter without an oil cooler.
An oil cooler will help to reduce the engine temperature and consequently water temperature. As the manufacturer fitted one as standard I guess they thought it necessary.
